I thought I hadn’t bought/acquired a lot of books this month, until I started compiling this list. Some of these books I had read as ebooks but i am never satisfied till I get hold of a physical copy, especially for books I enjoyed.
Anyways, here are the books I got in October…
Books I Bought
We Should All Be Feminists
The Thing Around Your Neck
These two fall under the previously read category. I loved Chimamanda’s essay on feminism and while I have disagree with dome of her shared personal opinions. I feel like she has the right idea of feminism down and I recommend this book to young women everywhere.
I never got to finish reading ‘The Thing Around Your Neck’ ( I blame ebooks), and I hope now I’ll get to the last story.
Sharp Objects by Gilian Flynn
I got this book because of ‘Gone Girl’, which I still haven’t read yet. I am actually skeptical about it because of the hype around the book and the author, so I decided to get acquainted with her work in chronological order.
The Palm Wine Drinkard
I don’t even know where to begin with this book; read it a few days ago and I couldn’t stop chuckling to myself and shaking my head. Hopefully, I’ll be writing a review soon.
Not sure why I felt compelled to buy this book. Other than a feeling of dejavu upon seeing the title, I can’t remember anything about it.
The following books were purchased in front of LASUTH for 100 naira apiece…
Living Dead in Dallas
Read the entire series in eBook format circa 2012/2013 and I thought finding it on the streets of Lagos was Destiny.
Our Gang by Philip Roth
Never read a Philip Roth novel in my life, but it seemed like a good/cheap way to start at the time.
N is for Noose by Sue Grafton
Another familiar author whose work I have never read.
A Couple of Star Trek Novels For The Road…
…because, Science Fiction!!!
These are books I requested for /was given via Netgalley, Blogging for Books, Publisher’s or Authors.
Behold The Dreamers
The Whole Town’s Talking
Dance on the Volcano
A Conspiracy Of Ravens
So, there you have it. These are the books that cane into my life in October 2016. There are others which have been read and/or reviewed, I.e. ‘Homegoing’, ‘Swing Time’, ‘The Marvel Travel Guide With the Long Title’.
#sigh. So many books, so little time. I think I need to reduce the number of review copies I request for ‘cos they are piling up fast. If only there were more hours in a day…
Have you read any of these books? Which would you recommend for the top of the pile? Did you buy/get any books in October?
P.S. I had to write this post twice ‘cos my phone is a petty p.o.s…
