  • 2019 is shaping to be the year of reading outside my comfort zone and in just glad I haven't come across anything that dulls me to tears yet.
I read my first business book in maybe 5 years this month and you can find my review at the link in my bio.
I shared some interesting opinions that didn't even occur to me as I read this book but became apparent while consolidating my notes for this review.
If you've read #TheVillager I'll like to hear your thoughts. If you haven't, I'd still love to hear your thoughts.
See bio for my review

  • Looking forward to exploring contemporary African poetry this year. And what better way to pop my cherry than with #TheCarelessSeamstress
I'll admit I'm a bit intimidated now since I spent the weekend watching spoken word performances by Tjawangwa Dema. However, today is the day I shake off my fear. Lol

  • Better late than never, right? - Unknown
I promised myself I'd get back into the habit of doing monthly blog wrapups and I'll just say this now, this one is incomplete.
Better incomplete than undone. Which is what I told myself as I compiled the latest wrapup ever. Lol
See the link in my bio to catch all the deets πŸ‘†
January was a busy month for me as par reading and blogging. And I loved every minute of it. I hadn't even realised how much I missed being in that space and I am now determined more than ever to hold on to this energy through 2019.
As you can see, it took only 4 weeks for me to start flirting with procrastination. Sigh. I cant deal with myself sometimes.
Are you a procrastinator too? Can we create a support group? I've seen people talk about having accountability partners (is that the correct term?) and so on.
How do you deal with procrastination?
  • This is another book that was making bookstagram waves last year. And why wouldn't it, it's a massive, pink book that claims to be "The Black Girl Bible".
.
You may conclude from my tone that I didn't really care for this book. Truth is, it just isn't what I needed at this point in my life.
Also, I read the audiobook and that probably compounded the issue. My full review is now in my bio.
I'll also like to hear your thoughts if you've read #SlayInYourLane

  • "God Nuh Like Ugly"
3 chapters into "Here Comes The Sun" and my neck aches from the amount of pressure on poor Thandi as she's being groomed by her mum and sister to rescue her family from living hand to mouth.
I can't see this leading anywhere good. Personally, I don't want to see people "sacrificing" their dreams on my account... What are you currently reading?
  • #ThrowbackThursday
This was the book that had everyone hyped up last year. I got on the train pretty late myself and by the time I read the book, I was upset.
My review is at the link in my bio.
I'm still looking for the human who said this was the 2nd coming of my dear J.K.Rowling. I just want to tell them something.
The second instalment of the series is set to be released in April and I'm not sure I want to spend my coins on it.
Are you looking forward to Children of Virtue and Vengeance?
  • Happy US publication day to #TheHundredWellsOfSalaga
I'm so excited to get into this book this week. I still haven't read a full review yet, so please be gentle if you've read it. lol
A couple of amazing reads are also being published today. I wrote about these on my blog. You can find the link in my bio.
Would you believe me if I said I had no idea I was colour coordinating with my #CurrentRead ? Some things are just meant to be 😎

  • This was supposed to be my January wrapup post. Sadly, it's not ready yet but I can't let it stop me from welcoming the Books Of February.
Interestingly, the books on my list this month are all being published February 5thπŸ’ƒ
I shared more deets in the link you'll find in my bio πŸ˜‰
What's your favourite book getting published this month?

  • Does it look like I'm crying in this photo? πŸ€”
As much as I enjoyed this book, I found myself writing a mixed feelings review when it came down to it. Does that ever happen to you?
My full review is now on the blog - at the link in my bio. (bit.ly/WATTBAReview)
I'll really love to hear your thoughts on #TheSlumFlower's mission statement. .πŸ“Έ@dada_ayodele
  • As much as I love to read, my biggest weakness is sitting through business books and my first instinct when @ouidabooks offered to send me #TheVillager was to say No.
However, this book is uniquely positioned to be my first business read since 20.. ever, actually. The author, until recently, was MD of my agency and I imagine the familiarity with many of the subjects will make this easier to digest.

  • Throwing it back to my first read of 2017: Longthroat Memoirs by Yemisi Aribisala.
Fun fact: I won this book 3 years ago in a giveaway by the lovely @ayobamidebayo. On Twitter of all places.
This book has been due for a reread for a while now and hopefully I'll get around to it this year.
I would recommend this book to anyone with more than a passing interest in Nigerian Food, for the food adventurers, and the people who think the height of Nigerian cuisine is Jollof Rice. Or if you are just looking for a bellyful of laughs and material for sweet dreams.
My full review is at the link in my bio
Raise your hands if this book still gives you the warm and fuzzies πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈπŸ˜
  • It is my opinion that #ChinuaAchebe was at his best writing nonfiction. And considering his illustrious fiction writing career, that's saying a lot.
The Education of a British Protected Child was one of my best reads in 2017. Truth is, I still haven't gotten over it.
The opinions shared in these essays had me feeling like I was back in school. This was a testament to self love and assurance before it became a thing.
Not sure but I think @rovingheights @bookpeddlerng @patabahbooks @something__bookish have it or can get it for you.
